Six years after one of the messiest launches in modern gaming, Cyberpunk 2077 is still getting new content. CD Projekt RED has released Update 2.5, a large patch timed to the Netflix debut of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The studio skipped version 2.4 entirely, and the result is closer to a mini-expansion than a maintenance drop.
The anime tie-in is the obvious draw. A new side quest called Clampdown takes place before the events of the second season. It unlocks once players finish The Heist, complete two gigs for Wakako and wait for her message. The quest rewards a five-piece gear set modelled on the character King, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays music from across the Edgerunners series. It’s smart cross-promotion. When the first season aired in 2022, it pulled lapsed players back into Night City, and CDPR clearly hopes the sequel does the same.
The more interesting changes are systemic. A new Double Trouble perk in the Cool tree, along with four supporting perks, lets V dual-wield pistols and revolvers. That is a whole new playstyle for a game whose combat builds were thought to be settled. Hand cyberware such as Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms can now be restyled at five Glamdoc shops, each with its own skins and colour options. Four new vendor clothing sets are available now, with a fifth to come, and several hairstyles that were previously NPC-only are now open to V.
Modding is the change with the longest reach. Through mod.io, players can browse and install a curated selection of community mods from inside the game on PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. CDPR calls it a first step, and the catalogue is limited for now. Console players should also know that modded saves disable achievements and trophies. Still, an officially supported modding route on consoles matters for a game whose previous patches routinely broke PC mods.
The rest of the patch is solid upkeep. There’s a new tour quest narrated by Richard Night, 12 Minor Arcana tarot cards to collect, saves grouped by playthrough, filters for stashes, and a long-requested FOV slider on consoles. On the technical side, the update adds DLSS 4.5 with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation, MetalFX Frame Interpolation and glasses-free 3D on Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors. FSR 3 upscaling has been removed, though FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain.
CDPR has said its main development on Cyberpunk 2077 wrapped up years ago, yet updates like this keep arriving. The open question is whether that support survives once the studio’s attention shifts fully to the sequel.
