Nikon Launches Next Generation D4S

After many rumours and being spotted at the Sochi Olympics,  Nikon has finally announced the release of the D4S – its latest flagship and successor to the D4 – and it will be available in March 2014 in the UAE.

The D4S improves on the D4 in many aspects, including autofocus, image processing, viewfinder, new communication features, and a new absurd ISO.

Nikon D4S

In addition to the four AF modes available with the D4 (Single-point AF, Dynamic-area AF, 3D-tracking, and Auto-area AF), the D4S offers a fifth AF-area mode known as Group-area AF which uses 5 focus points: one specified by the user and four surrounding that point. Nikon promises this mode delivers a smoother autofocus and continuous shooting at 11FPS with AF and AE tracking. The D4S is also equipped with the new EXPEED 4 image-processing engine with an effective pixel count of 16.2MP. The ISO standard range is from ISO 100 to ISO 25,600 and an extended low ISO 50 and as high ISO 409,600 (holy!). A new images size, RAW S, has also been added.

Other improvements include a more stable viewfinder image during continuous shooting and a shorter viewfinder blackout time; less stress from a redesigned grip is also a new welcome addition. Comms speed has also been increased with 1000BASE-T support for wired LAN communication.
