The social media platform formerly known as Twitter has finally completed its transformation into “X,” with the official adoption of X.com as its primary domain.
While the rebranding process began months ago, the URL change marks a significant step in Elon Musk’s vision for the platform. Users attempting to access Twitter.com will now be redirected to X.com, although some inconsistencies may occur depending on browser and login status.
A message on the X login page assures users that their privacy and data protection settings remain unaffected by the URL change. However, the transition hasn’t been entirely smooth, with some Verge staffers reporting early access to X.com links last year and security expert Brian Krebs warning of potential phishing risks due to the delayed change.
Musk’s affinity for the X.com domain dates back to 1999, when he founded a company under the same name, which eventually merged with PayPal. For the newly rebranded X, Musk envisions it becoming a WeChat-like “everything app,” although the details of this transformation remain unclear.

Regardless of its future direction, one thing is certain: the Twitter era is over, and the X era has officially begun.
