Overnight, a large number of iCloud users found themselves unexpectedly logged out of their accounts across all Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, HomePods, and Apple TVs. The only way to regain access is to perform a password reset.
The cause of these mass logouts remains unclear, and there’s no current indication of an issue on Apple’s official iCloud status page. Reports suggest that even app-specific passwords were affected.
What we know so far:
- The Scope: The issue seems widespread, impacting a large number of users. It’s difficult to gauge the exact scale as social media reports are being drowned out by spam.
- Not a Targeted Hack: There are no indications that the logouts are due to a hacking attempt. Users are not reporting receiving two-factor authentication triggers or other signs of breaches.
Tips for Affected Users
- If you’ve been logged out of iCloud, the only way to regain access is to reset your Apple ID password.
- Be wary of spammers exploiting the issue by sending phishing emails or messages. Stick to Apple’s official channels for information and updates.
