Threads takes aim at TweetDeck with new new web version

Meta’s Threads is leveling up its web version, aiming to capture the hearts (and eyeballs) of power users who crave a more organized and efficient experience. The company is now testing Tweetdeck-like custom feeds, allowing users to track multiple topics, searches, and accounts all in one place.

Imagine having pinned columns for your favorite hashtags, breaking news topics, specific accounts, and even saved searches. And the best part? You can set these columns to automatically refresh, ensuring you’re always up-to-date with the latest buzz.

Currently, Threads supports up to 100 columns, but that number could change as the test progresses. If this sounds familiar, it’s because it closely resembles Tweetdeck (now X Pro), the beloved desktop app favored by Twitter power users.

This move is the latest in Meta’s efforts to make Threads a go-to source for real-time information. The company has already added a “recent” tab and trending topics to search, but the ability to track multiple feeds simultaneously takes things to a whole new level.

It could also address a common gripe about Threads’ algorithmic feed, which often serves up a confusing mix of outdated posts and irrelevant personal stories.

While the test is initially limited to a small group of users, it signals Meta’s commitment to refining Threads and making it a more powerful tool for those who crave a tailored news experience.

So, buckle up, Threads users! The future of your web feed looks brighter, more organized, and potentially a lot more like Tweetdeck.
