The gamification of apps: it seems Uber is joining the trend

Uber is exploring the addition of mini-games within its iPhone app, as suggested by hidden code discovered within the app itself.

MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris found references to game-loading capabilities in the most recent Uber app update released on Monday. Notably, one line of code indicates that the gaming feature would necessitate an active internet connection.

The timeline for public release of these mini-games remains uncertain, and there is no guarantee that the feature will ultimately be launched.

If implemented, this move would provide Uber passengers with an engaging way to pass the time during their rides. Uber would be following a trend set by YouTube, which introduced similar lightweight games to its iPhone app last month.
