Ring adds new indoor and outdoor cameras to its UAE lineup

Ring has introduced several new smart home security devices in the UAE, adding to its lineup of cameras and doorbells aimed at everyday monitoring and convenience. The new line includes the Indoor Cam Plus, Floodlight Cam Pro, Wired Doorbell Pro, and Wired Doorbell Plus. These products focus on improved video resolution, motion detection, and integration with the Ring app, reflecting the company’s steady push into connected home security amid growing demand in the region.

The Indoor Cam Plus offers 2K video, enhanced zoom, two-way audio, and real-time alerts. It performs better in low light and includes a manual lens cover for privacy. Positioned as a compact option for inside the home, it suits users wanting to keep an eye on family members, pets, or general activity. While such devices have become common, their reliance on consistent Wi-Fi and app notifications raises practical questions about reliability in daily use, especially during network disruptions common in urban areas like Dubai.

For outdoor coverage, the Floodlight Cam Pro provides 4K video with significant zoom capability, 3D motion detection, customizable zones, two-way talk, and built-in floodlights with a siren. It aims to illuminate driveways, gardens, and entrances while delivering color footage even in dim conditions. Outdoor security cameras have evolved considerably since early models, yet challenges remain around false alerts from weather or animals, and the balance between constant recording and battery or power demands.

The Wired Doorbell Pro and Plus deliver 4K and 2K video respectively, with head-to-toe visibility, advanced motion sensing, and direct visitor communication through the app. Hardwired for steady power, they target the front door as a key interaction point. These build on Ring’s original video doorbell concept, which helped popularize the category over a decade ago, but they also highlight ongoing debates about neighborhood surveillance and data sharing.

All devices connect through the Ring app for live views and notifications from anywhere. A Ring Protect subscription unlocks video recording, sharing, and extra features, a model now standard across the industry but one that adds recurring costs many users weigh carefully against free basic functionality. Since Amazon acquired Ring in 2018, the brand has expanded its ecosystem significantly, integrating with other smart home platforms while facing scrutiny over privacy practices and police data requests in various markets.

In the UAE, the Indoor Cam Plus and Floodlight Cam Pro are available online through Amazon.ae and e& stores, as well as select retailers. The wired doorbells appear mainly through e& and physical outlets. This rollout aligns with broader smart home growth in the Middle East, where urbanization, higher disposable incomes, and interest in property security drive adoption. Yet consumers should consider not just features but also data security, subscription dependency, and whether the added awareness genuinely improves peace of mind or simply generates more notifications.

Overall, these additions represent incremental upgrades rather than a major shift, extending Ring’s presence in a competitive category that includes options from Google, Arlo, and local providers. For UAE households evaluating smart security, the new devices offer familiar functionality with refined hardware, though long-term value will depend on real-world performance, ongoing costs, and individual privacy priorities.
