Barely months after the launch of the Phone (2a), Nothing has already unveiled its successor, the Phone (2a) Plus. This enhanced version offers several key improvements over its predecessor, including a faster processor, a higher-resolution selfie camera, and a wider range of color options.
The most notable upgrade is the inclusion of the Dimensity 7350 Plus chipset, an overclocked variant of the Dimensity 7200 Pro found in the original Phone (2a). This collaboration with MediaTek promises a 10% boost in CPU performance and a 30% increase in GPU-intensive tasks, making the Phone (2a) Plus a more capable device for gaming and other demanding applications.
Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the upgraded 50MP front-facing camera, which now supports 4K video recording at up to 30fps. The rear camera setup remains unchanged, featuring a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide lens, ensuring high-quality images and videos.
The Phone (2a) Plus also gets a slight boost in charging speed, now supporting 50W wired charging compared to the 45W offered by the Phone (2a). However, the battery capacity remains the same at 5,000 mAh.
On the software side, the Phone (2a) Plus comes with Nothing OS 2.6, based on Android 14. This updated operating system boasts ChatGPT integration and a new News Reporter Widget that reads news aloud using the voice of Nothing’s CFO, Tim Holbrow. This feature is also available for other Nothing phones through the Nothing Widgets app on the Google Play Store.
The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus starts at $399 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. Pre-order / pricing details for the Middle East are still not confirmed.
