Microsoft recently unveiled a series of exciting announcements at a special event ahead of Build 2024. The company showcased its commitment to AI-powered computing with the introduction of Copilot Plus PCs, a new category of devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors. These devices are designed to support advanced AI features within Windows 11, promising a significant performance boost and enhanced user experience.

One standout feature is Recall, a tool that locally logs all user activity on the PC, making it easy to search and retrieve past interactions, documents, and conversations. Microsoft is also integrating Copilot more deeply into Windows 11, enabling it to offer suggestions in Settings, edit files directly in File Explorer, and even write responses to notifications.

In addition, Copilot is getting an upgrade with OpenAI’s new GPT-4o model, allowing it to answer questions based on on-screen content.

Microsoft also refreshed its Surface lineup with a new Surface Pro model, featuring Snapdragon X Elite and Plus chips and an optional OLED display. The Surface Laptop also received an update, boasting thinner bezels, a haptic touchpad, and significant performance improvements.

To further demonstrate its commitment to AI-powered computing, Microsoft announced partnerships with companies like Adobe to optimize their apps for Copilot Plus PCs. Native Arm64 versions of popular Adobe software are already available, with more to come in the summer. Other apps like DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, and Cephable will also benefit from AI enhancements on these devices.

With these announcements, Microsoft is clearly staking its claim in the AI-powered computing landscape, promising a more efficient, intuitive, and personalized user experience for both personal and professional use.
