HTC, the smartphone legend that refuses to fade away entirely, is back with yet another smartphone launch. Could this be a sign the apocalypse is near? Unclear, but the specs aren’t exactly heart-stopping.
This mysterious device, codenamed “2QDA100” (catchy, right?), popped up on Geekbench and Bluetooth SIG. It’s probably the sequel to last year’s riveting HTC U23… maybe the HTC U24 or even the mind-blowing U24 Pro! Get those pre-orders ready, folks.
Geekbench results reveal the kind of performance that’ll make your 2016 smartphone blush. Single-core? Multi-core? Whatever. Point is, it’ll run apps. Eventually.
Under the hood, brace yourselves for the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 – cutting-edge technology for…well, let’s just say it’s an improvement over last year. The rumored 12GB RAM is suspiciously generous, leading us to question if HTC accidentally ordered parts for an actual flagship phone, then panicked.
Other leaked features are mind-boggling: Bluetooth 5.3 (the future is now!), and it might just be able to make calls. Don’t quote us on that last part.
As for launch date…HTC seems to operate on a time scale only known to geologists. Might be this year, might be when dinosaurs roam the Earth again. Either way, consider yourselves warned. If you love an underdog with questionable release schedules and mildly better specs than last year’s model, this phone is tailor-made for you!
