Google’s Magic Editor: now on your phone, but there’s a catch

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been making headlines lately, especially with Google’s Gemini taking the spotlight. One of its coolest AI-powered tricks, Magic Editor in Google Photos, is now available on more phones than ever, but with a few caveats.

Originally a Pixel-exclusive feature, Magic Editor is like Magic Eraser on steroids. It can reframe photos, move objects around, even change the weather! It’s a powerful tool that lets you transform your pictures with AI magic.

If you’re a lucky Pixel owner, you can use Magic Editor to your heart’s content for free. But for everyone else, there’s a catch: you’re limited to 10 edited saves per month unless you subscribe to Google One Premium. Bummer, right?

But hey, even with the limit, it’s still a fun way to play around with your photos and see what AI can do. And if you really get hooked, you can always opt for Google One Premium or explore other alternatives like Snapseed or Adobe Lightroom.

While Google might not have been the first to offer AI-powered photo editing, they’re certainly making it accessible to a wider audience. This move could even be seen as a playful jab at competitors like Samsung and OnePlus, who have also dabbled in AI-powered camera features with varying degrees of success.

So, fire up your Google Photos app and see if the Magic Editor has appeared on your phone. Whether you’re a Pixel user or not, it’s a fun way to add a touch of AI magic to your photos (at least for a limited time!).
