Google’s AI Search Summaries now available in over 100 countries

Google is rapidly expanding the reach of its AI-powered search summaries, bringing the convenience and efficiency of AI Overviews to users in over 100 countries. This week’s rollout includes Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Colombia, Chile, the Philippines, Nigeria, and many more. The full list of supported countries is available on Google’s official website.

This expansion goes beyond just geographical reach. AI Overviews will now appear in any supported language within each country, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. This means users can search in their preferred language and receive an AI-generated summary in the same language, making information more accessible and understandable.

For those unfamiliar, AI Overviews are concise summaries that appear at the top of Google Search results pages for certain queries. These summaries are generated by artificial intelligence, providing users with a quick overview of key information related to their search.

Earlier this month, Google began incorporating ads into AI Overviews on mobile devices in the United States. However, for all other locations included in this expansion, ads will continue to appear in dedicated slots throughout the search results page, rather than directly within the AI Overviews.

Google initially launched AI Overviews in the US in May, followed by an expansion to the UK, India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil in August. This latest rollout significantly broadens the feature’s availability, making it accessible to a vast global audience.

In addition to expanding its reach, Google has also been working to improve the transparency of AI Overviews. The company recently began displaying cited webpages more prominently within the summaries, allowing users to easily see the sources of the information.

With this global expansion and ongoing improvements, Google is demonstrating its commitment to making AI-powered search more accessible, informative, and user-friendly. As AI continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovative features and enhancements to the search experience in the future.
