Google Meet is rolling out an update that gives users more control over their meeting layouts, especially in calls between Google Meet hardware and Zoom Rooms. This update expands interoperability, allowing users to select the layout that best suits their needs.
When joining a Google Meet call from Zoom Rooms, users can now change the layout by selecting the “View” option. This provides the flexibility to choose between tiled view, speaker spotlight view, or sidebar view.
Similarly, users joining Zoom Meetings from a Google Meet hardware device can change their layout directly from the device settings through the “Change layout” option. In this scenario, two views are available: gallery and speaker.
This update will be gradually rolled out starting on February 12th to all Google Workspace customers with Google Meet hardware devices and Zoom Rooms customers on supported devices. It’s worth noting that some devices may not fully support the feature until their manufacturer has updated the Zoom Rooms software.
This update provides greater flexibility and control for Google Meet users, particularly those participating in calls between Google Meet hardware and Zoom Rooms. By enabling users to select their preferred layout, Google Meet enhances the overall meeting experience and promotes better engagement.
