Elgato releases Facecam 4K webcam with 60fps ultra HD support

lgato has introduced the Facecam 4K, a high-resolution webcam capable of recording Ultra HD video at 60 frames per second. The device targets streamers, content creators, and remote professionals looking for professional-grade image quality without the need for a full camera rig. The webcam is available now, with a limited-time promotion offering a free CPL filter for purchases made through Elgato’s online store.

The Facecam 4K builds on the company’s previous 4K60 model from 2022, aiming to deliver improved image quality and more creative flexibility at a lower price point than comparable professional setups. It features a 90-degree Prime Lens that remains sharp up to 1.2 meters, paired with a 1/1.8-inch Sony STARVIS 2 sensor known for strong low-light performance and color accuracy. An onboard image processor handles tasks such as noise reduction and video encoding, producing uncompressed output with low latency.

Users can fine-tune their video through Elgato’s Camera Hub software, which offers manual DSLR-like controls for ISO, shutter speed, and PTZ adjustments. The software also supports LUTs (Look-Up Tables) for quick color grading, as well as HDR mode, advanced noise reduction, and NVIDIA RTX-powered background blur. These tools allow for a more polished, broadcast-ready look without extensive post-production.

One of the standout additions is the webcam’s 49-mm lens filter support, a first for consumer webcams. This makes it possible to attach common photography filters — such as diffusion, starburst, or CPL — to achieve cinematic effects or reduce glare, opening creative options typically limited to dedicated cameras.

The Facecam 4K is compatible with any 49-mm filter and is positioned as a versatile choice for streaming, live presentations, and video recording. While it won’t replace high-end mirrorless or cinema cameras for advanced productions, its feature set and direct USB connectivity may appeal to creators seeking a balance between quality and convenience.
