Chrome for iOS gets a major upgrade: customizable menu bar

Google has just rolled out a significant quality-of-life enhancement for Chrome on iPhone and iPad: a customizable menu bar. This long-awaited feature allows users to personalize the menu that appears when tapping the three-dot overflow menu at the top right.

Previously, the menu’s carousel was “smartly” sorted, prioritizing frequently used items. While this might sound helpful in theory, many users found the constant shuffling annoying and disruptive to their workflow. With the new update, you can now disable this “Smart Sort Menu Bar” option, ensuring that items stay in your preferred order.

But that’s not all. You now have the freedom to remove nearly every item from the carousel except for the essential “Settings” and “Site Information.” This means you can bid farewell to clutter and keep only the shortcuts you truly need.

The customization options extend to the actions list as well. You can rearrange or uncheck actions like “Follow,” “Add to Bookmarks,” “Translate,” and more, tailoring the menu to your specific preferences.

This newfound customization power is a welcome addition for users seeking a more personalized and streamlined browsing experience on their iOS devices. The update is currently available on Chrome 125 for iPhone and iPad, so head over to the App Store and give your Chrome menu a fresh new look!
