ChatGPT users were having a rough day on June 4th! After a morning outage brought the service down for hours, ChatGPT suffered another breakdown as well during the night.
Mobile app and web users were reporting difficulties receiving responses to their queries. OpenAI acknowledges the issue in a status message, stating “ChatGPT is unavailable for some users. We are currently investigating this issue.”
This second outage began around 18:00 UAE time on June 4th with thousands of frustrated users reporting problems on Downdetector.
The last major outage occurred in November, impacting both ChatGPT and OpenAI’s API services for roughly 90 minutes. Thankfully, the current outage appears to be isolated to ChatGPT itself, with the API functioning normally.OpenAI previously attributed the November incident to a DDoS attack.
It’s worth noting that a Microsoft outage last month also affected ChatGPT search features, alongside their own Copilot service.
Here’s hoping OpenAI can swiftly resolve this double dose of trouble and get ChatGPT back on track for its users.
