Apple has released the second developer betas for iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5, continuing the testing phase ahead of the official rollout. The updates arrive two weeks after the initial beta versions were made available, offering developers early access to new features and design refinements.
While iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 don’t appear to introduce major overhauls, a few notable changes have been spotted so far. The Mail app now includes additional options for users who prefer the previous layout, including the ability to remove contact photos from message lists—responding to user feedback on interface clutter.
Another small but useful update is the improved visibility of AppleCare coverage information within settings, making it easier for users to check their device’s support status without navigating through multiple menus.
As development continues, additional changes or hidden features may surface in future builds. Apple is expected to fine-tune performance and iron out bugs ahead of the general release.
Developers enrolled in Apple’s beta program can access the latest build through the Settings app under Software Update, assuming their iPhone or iPad is configured for beta testing. Apple strongly recommends that users avoid installing beta software on primary devices, as these pre-release versions can introduce instability or compatibility issues with apps.
The final version of iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 is likely to arrive later this spring. Until then, updates and refinements will continue through additional beta releases.
