iOS 17.5 is now available for all compatible iPhones, likely marking the final major feature update before iOS 18’s preview next month. This update brings some exciting new features, including an offline mode for Apple News Plus, allowing users to access certain content without an internet connection. News Plus subscribers will also find a new Quartiles puzzle game and Game Center integration.

In terms of privacy, iOS 17.5 expands Apple’s anti-stalking measures to work with Google’s upgraded Find My Device network, automatically alerting users if a compatible tracker is detected nearby.
Apple and Google have partnered to create a new industry specification for Bluetooth trackers. This feature allows both iOS and Android users to receive alerts if an unknown tracker is moving with them. iOS 17.5 and Android 6.0+ devices will now provide instructions on how to locate and disable the tracker. Several manufacturers have already pledged support for this feature, and Apple and Google will continue collaborating to develop a standardized technology for detecting unwanted location tracking.

Additionally, iOS 17.5 introduces a significant change for users in the European Union: developers can now distribute apps directly on the web, enabling iPhone users to download apps directly from websites without the need for an app store.
To update your compatible iPhone, simply go to Settings > General > Software Update.
