The rumour has been going on for a while now, so the news really isn’t a shock but more of a confirmation: Apple is bringing a form of iOS, dubbed “CarPlay”, into select vehicles (new Ferrari, Mercedes, and Volvo cars) and other manufacturers are soon to follow suit (BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota).
According to Apple:
CarPlay gives iPhone users an incredibly intuitive way to make calls, use Maps, listen to music and access messages with just a word or a touch. Users can easily control CarPlay from the car’s native interface or just push-and-hold the voice control button on the steering wheel to activate Siri® without distraction.
