It seems that Samsung wasn’t the only the company working on a Chromebook; Acer just debuted a new Chromebook with a massive screen and a small price tag. The Acer Chromebook 15 comes with a 15.6-inch display and a price tag of $199.
However, the large display does come with a slightly downgraded resolution (1366 x 768) but that’s what you get for the cheap price. On the other hand, the Chromebook 15 does pack some alright specifications. The device is powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 dual-core processor, 2GB RAM and just 16GB of storage. However, there is a built-in SD card reader and 100GB of free Google Drive storage to reduce your reliance on the internal flash drive. Furthermore, the keyboard has LED backlighting; letting you tap away into the wee hours of the night. When it comes to connectivity, you have 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2. Your I/O ports will be the two USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port. Back-peddling a bit, the fact that this device only has 2GB of RAM is incredibly worrying.
However, the big feature that is being touted is the supposed 12-hour battery life the Chromebook 15 has. I say supposed, because when it comes to battery life we’ve often seen that in reality such numbers are inflated, or are derived from devices in low power modes. Acer went on to say that the Chromebook 15 is on the list to receive support for Android apps.
