BOOX is expanding its Android-powered ePaper range with three new devices aimed at very different types of users. The Note Air6 C, Note Mini C and Palma 3 cover everything from full-sized digital note-taking to a phone-sized reading experience, with Android 16 and BOOX Super Refresh technology shared across the lineup.
The Note Air6 C is the immediate flagship and the only one of the three available now. It sticks with the 10.3-inch HD colour ePaper display used by the previous Note Air5 C, but BOOX has upgraded the hardware underneath with a 4nm octa-core processor and 6GB of RAM.
BOOX claims page-turn times have been reduced by 40% compared with the Note Air5 C. There is also upgraded wireless connectivity, while the company’s BSR technology is designed to make interaction with the traditionally slower-refreshing ePaper display feel more responsive.
Software changes focus heavily on productivity. The native Notes app includes outlining, tagging and search tools, alongside a Dual Note mode capable of displaying two notes side-by-side vertically or horizontally. Pogo pins on the rear allow the tablet to connect directly to an optional keyboard cover.
More interesting could be the Note Mini C. Its 8.52-inch HD colour ePaper display sits between conventional e-readers and larger digital notebooks, potentially making it easier to carry without giving up handwriting and document-editing capabilities. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, while a microSD slot supports cards up to 2TB. BOOX’s new magnetic InkSight stylus is also supported.
The Palma 3 takes a different approach. BOOX’s phone-sized reader returns with a redesigned monochrome ePaper display promising improved contrast, deeper blacks and sharper text. Despite looking somewhat like a smartphone, the emphasis remains on reading rather than replacing one.
It runs Android 16, offers 128GB of storage and includes microSD expansion, while InkSense Plus stylus support adds another input option. Access to Android apps also makes the Palma considerably more flexible than a traditional closed-platform e-reader, although that openness arguably challenges BOOX’s pitch of a deliberately low-distraction device.
Pricing is another notable part of the announcement. The Note Air6 C starts at $579.99 in the US and £549.99/€579.99 in Europe. BOOX lists the upcoming Note Mini C at the same prices, despite its smaller display. The Palma 3 will start at $339.99 in the US and £319.99/€339.99 in Europe.
The Note Air6 C is available now, while BOOX has yet to provide firm release dates for the Note Mini C and Palma 3. Their arrival should make BOOX’s ePaper lineup considerably broader, but the unusually close pricing between its two colour note-taking devices could make choosing the right screen size more important than choosing on cost.
