Ahead of the premiere of Lanterns, Absolute Geeks caught up with Poorna Jagannathan (“Zoe”) and Garret Dillahunt (“William Macon”) to talk about entering one of DC’s biggest mythologies — and how the series brings Green Lantern firmly down to Earth.
Lanterns takes a noticeably more grounded, mystery-driven approach to a universe normally associated with alien worlds, intergalactic threats and power rings capable of creating almost anything imaginable. We asked Jagannathan and Dillahunt about the challenge of making that cosmic mythology feel believable and human, and how the series balances its intimate story with the much larger DC Universe surrounding it.
We also talked about Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two very different Green Lanterns at the centre of the series, and what their contrasting personalities bring out in each other.
