STARZ ON partners with iQIYI to bring popular Chinese entertainment to MENA region

evision, the media and entertainment branch of e&, has secured the rights to a selection of popular Chinese dramas,animation, and movies from iQIYI, a leading online entertainment platform in China. This collaboration aims to establish STARZ ON, evision’s free streaming service, as the premier hub for Chinese content in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Olivier Bramly, CEO of evision, emphasized the significance of this partnership in expanding STARZ ON’s content library and positioning it at the forefront of the evolving global entertainment landscape. The inclusion of Chinese content, which has been gaining popularity worldwide, not only enriches the viewing experience for MENA audiences but also fosters cultural exchange.

Sunil K Joy, Head of Content at evision, highlighted the growing international appeal of Chinese dramas, citing the success of shows like “Love Between Fairy and Devil.” To ensure accessibility for MENA viewers, all content will be presented with Arabic subtitles.

The partnership offers a diverse range of Chinese entertainment, including action-packed Kung Fu epics like “Monkey King: The One and Only,” captivating dramas like “Destiny’s Love,” and engaging anime series like “No Choice But to Betray the Earth.”

Xianghua YANG, Senior Vice President of iQIYI, expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to create new business opportunities and expand the reach of Chinese content.
