With the second season of Wednesday set to arrive on Netflix in just days, speculation has been circulating about a potential spin-off from the hit Addams Family-inspired series. However, according to creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, fans shouldn’t expect an offshoot anytime soon.
The first season of Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega as the deadpan, gothic Wednesday Addams, became one of Netflix’s most popular series when it debuted in 2022. Its mix of supernatural mystery, dark humor, and Addams Family nostalgia quickly drew a global audience. With Season 2 about to premiere and a third season already confirmed, attention has naturally turned to whether the larger Addams universe might get explored in a separate series — potentially focusing on characters like Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), or Gomez (Luis Guzmán).
In a recent interview, however, Gough made it clear that the priority is getting more Wednesday episodes to viewers without another years-long gap between seasons. “It’s not a priority at the moment,” he said. “We went straight from finishing Season 2 to developing Season 3. So it’s all Wednesday all the time right now.”
While this may disappoint fans eager for more Addams Family content, it does suggest that Netflix and the creative team are focused on keeping the main series’ momentum going. The goal appears to be avoiding the three-year wait that occurred between Seasons 1 and 2.
Millar added that the production team is still finalizing post-production on the upcoming season, including sound mixes and color timing, while also actively working in the writers’ room. “We really want to honor the fans and deliver the best show they deserve after a long wait,” he said.
Wednesday Season 2 will be released in two parts — the first four episodes on August 6, followed by the remaining four on September 3.
