Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 #1

Xiaomi has routinely dished out fantastic smartphones over the past few years that are famous for having top of the line specs yet being quite cheap. It’s a design also employed by another Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei. However, it looks like Xiaomi is going to be leading the competition with the successor to the Redmi Note 3, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 in New Delhi, for the Indian market. The local variant of the handset is powered by a 14nm Snapdragon 625 SoC which is 20% more power efficient than the Redmi Note 3. The device offers a 5.5-inch Full HD display covered in 2.5D curved glass, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB storage. For your aesthetic photos, you’re given a  13MP camera, while a 5MP front shooter serves your Snapchat needs. The best part about the device is its massive 4100mAh battery, which is expected to get you through the majority of two days on medium usage.

When it comes to software, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs MIUI 8, Xiaomi’s personal skin of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Don’t worry, an Android Nougat preview is currently being tested for the Redmi Note 4, so expect that to drop in a few months.

A fingerprint reader lets you easily unlock the phone whilst giving it an extra level of security. Users will be able to utilise two SIMs, or one SIM and a MicroSD card for up to 128GB of expandable storage. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in matte black, dark grey and gold.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 #2

There are currently three versions of the Xiaomi Red Note 4 users can opt to buy. The first is a 2GB RAM with 32GB onboard storage for Rs. 10,000 ($146), 3GB + 32GB at Rs. 11,000 ($161) and 4GB + 64GB at Rs. 13,000 ($190). Those prices are incredible, especially when considering the fact that they will be sold on Flipkart.com, a site that will occasionally hold flash sales, dropping the price further. Sales will begin on January 23rd. Incidentally, Flipkart is also the company that walked away from an acquisition of Dubai-based Souq.com.
