The Windows way to a productive home

Jan 18, 2016

2016, pronounced “twenty-sixteen” for the first few months by everyone in an effort to remind themselves to buy a new calendar, is shaping out to be a pretty great year when it comes to geekiness. We saw a whole load of gadgets at CES earlier in the month, there are a ton of new games coming out this year and a wide plethora of movies that we’ll be queuing up for over the next 11 months. As a result you can expect to see me doing absolutely nothing productive at all and here’s where a few Windows 10 apps can help combat that.

For parents with kids, the Microsoft Calendar could prove to be invaluable, especially when shared with family members over Outlook. By setting up permissions just right, you can create a digital family calendar and have your kids activities recorded on there, making sure you’ll never miss out on any important plays or recitals; if your spouse refuses to indulge his schedule, you might want to hire a private investigator.

Your Microsoft account doesn’t just stop at Outlook or Microsoft Calendar; OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud storage solution and it powers Microsoft Office 2016 when it comes to collaboration. While that collaboration helps a lot when it comes to work, it can also play a great part at home. For instance, using OneNote, you can get started with your grocery shopping as your spouse or roommate adds items to the list from home. If you come across a piece of information that can prove useful to a sibling you can take snap of it with OneNote and then sharie it through OneDrive.

When I reviewed the Lumia 950 XL, I fell in love with the camera. Photos I took with it were breathtaking and beautiful and in my unprofessional opinion, deserved to be displayed in galleries around the world. The 20 megapixels, Carl Zeiss optics and triple LED will make sure you capture those special family moments and immortalize them.

To get the creative juices in your family flowing during those art sessions you can try out the Fresh Paint, an app that’s been hailed for its ability to accurately mimic watercolour, oil, pencil, pen and pastel; with it your kids will be able to paint away, without destroying your furniture.

With all these products and apps you’re guaranteed to see your productivity at home increase!
