Periscope will now play directly in your Twitter feed

It seems like a new ad product isn’t the only thing Twitter will be bringing to our timelines. A new change was noticed by users of Twitter’s iOS app; instead of seeing a link to a broadcast on periscope, you’ll be able to view the feed directly in your timeline. You can expect to see this change come to Twitter’s other platforms soon.

The change is due to Twitter trying closer integration between it and Periscope, in an attempt to retain users of the app. Since launch, there have been over 100 million broadcasts created on Periscope and while people wanting to live stream will still need to have the Periscope app installed, that’s not true for the viewers.

However, the integration doesn’t let you heart or comment on streams—for that, you’ll have to tap the “Open Periscope to Chat” button at the top of every stream. You can on the other hand now retweet, like, or reply, just like the streams as you can with any other tweet.  The only tell that it’s a feature from Periscope is the running viewer count and the “live” badge.
