Online test can predict your death within five years

Are you between 40 and 70? interested to know when is your last day on earth? (you know, to make sure you finish all your to-do stuff before you leave). If the answer is yes, then this is for you.

Researchers have put together a short questionnaire of 13 questions for men and 11 for women capable of producing a percentage risk factor for death within five years. Questions include things like walking speed and number of cars owned.

The test is based on research done by two Swedish scientists on around half a million people, using more than 600 lifestyle variables to assess what can best predict mortality risk percentages.

The results were narrowed down to 11 lifestyle questions for women and 13 for men, with the researchers claiming  80% prediction accuracy.
This is the first study of its kind which is based on a very large study sample, and is not limited to specific populations, single types of risk, or requiring laboratory testing, Dr Erik Ingelsson of Uppsala University said.
Users who take the test, are presented with an “Ubble age” based on their scores – a lower Ubble age than their own indicates good health, while a higher one indicates negative health factors. The Ubble age will also be accompanied by a risk of death percentage indicating how many people out of 100 of the same age and with similar answers will die in the next five years.

The questions:

 1. What is your age?
 2. What is your gender?
 3. How many children do you have/have given birth to?
 4. Do you smoke tobacco now?
 5. In the past how often have you smoked tobacco?
 6. In general how do you rate your overall health?
 7. Do you have a long standing illness or disability?
 8. How would you describe your usual walking pace, slow, steady or brisk?
 9. Have you ever seen a GP for nerves, anxiety, tension or depression?
 10. Has a doctor ever told you that you have cancer?
 11. In the last two years have you experienced; serious illness, injury or assault to yourself; serious illness, injury or assault to a close relative; death of a close relative; death of a spouse or partner, marital separation or divorce; financial difficulties?
 12. Do you receive any of the following; Attendance allowance; Disability allowance; Blue Badge?
In general, if your Ubble age is higher than your actual age, it could raise concerns and provide incentive for lifestyle change, Dr Ingelsson added.
