A company in Virginia is testing a radar device that would catch drivers who are texting while driving.

The company explains that the radar would detect the tell-tale radio frequencies coming out of the car when someone inside is using a cellphone.

The device, developed by ComSonics, can detect and differentiate between a text message, phone call and data transfer from the frequencies they emit.

The company said that the new radar is still under testing and will be going into production soon after a few technical and legal issues have been solved. According to ComSonics, the biggest hurdle currently is privacy, although the equipment could not decrypt the information  transmitted by drivers.
