Back in May, at the I/O Google conference, the leading technology company unveiled two messaging apps: Google Duo and Google Allo. The former is a video chatting app that launched a month ago on both Android and iOS while the latter was teased to be coming at the end of Summer.
And now it appears that the app will be launched on the 21st of September according to reputable leaker Evan Blass.

Allo is an artificial intelligence app, that has the usual collection of features you see in messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. However, Allo also features Google’s Google Assitant, which can be used to answer questions and so forth, from within the app. Furthermore, the messaging app also boasts end-to-end encryption. Much like Google Duo, all Allo requires to work is your phone number, another similarity to WhatsApp.
There’s a slew of other features that Google Allo is hinted at having, which range from temporary private messages, stickers and even text formatting options to make your daily texts that much more expressive. But it’s the AI-powered features that are the crème de la crème; it uses machine learning to suggest appropriate responses to both text and graphic messages sent to you, eliminating the need to do much typing on your part.
For instance, if someone asks if you’re free to go watch a movie, you’ll be prompted to tap “yes I am” or “sorry, I’m not”. It also works with pictures so that you can reply to those millions of cat pictures you receive with “aww cute”.
Google Assistant is pretty much Google’s version of Siri, and acts as a much more friendly and intuitive version of Google Search; for instance, it offers a list of nearby restaurants when talking to someone about having a meal.
