Apple confirms NFC restriction to Apple Pay usage only on the new iPhones

So it seems that Apple has confirmed the restriction of NFC usage on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Reports have indicated that Apple will indeed lock the NFC usage to its Apple Pay service for now and restrict and third party apps to communicate with the service.

We’ve seen a similar move last year when Apple restricted the use of their fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5s and open it to third party developers this year part of iOS8. But then again, NFC is not an apple technology and is definitely not a new technology under testing that would require to take the same approach.

Do you agree with Apple’s move to restrict NFC? Do you think this approach has anything to do with iBeacon?
