Threads adds multiple bio links and weekly insights to boost creator visibility

Threads, Meta’s Twitter-alternative platform, is giving users more flexibility in how they present themselves online with a new profile feature that allows up to five links in a user’s bio. The update is a notable shift from the single-link restriction currently imposed by X (formerly Twitter), providing a practical advantage for content creators and professionals looking to direct followers to multiple destinations.

With the expanded bio link feature, users can now promote a range of external platforms—whether it’s a podcast, YouTube or Twitch channel, newsletter, or portfolio—without relying on third-party tools or trying to prioritize just one link. This move aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to position Threads as a content-forward social platform, where creators can build a deeper connection with their audience both within and beyond the app.

The update is more than just cosmetic. Alongside the multiple link feature, Meta is rolling out a new weekly recap tool under Threads’ “Insights” section. This analytics feature gives users a snapshot of engagement performance, including total link clicks, content reach, follower growth, and posting activity over time. It’s designed to help users assess what’s working, what’s not, and how to better align their activity with community engagement.

While X has increasingly limited outbound linking options—particularly for creators promoting content on rival platforms—Meta seems to be leaning in the opposite direction. The latest Threads update offers a clearer path for users looking to consolidate their digital presence without compromising on discoverability.

This follows a previous Threads update that allowed users to tag up to ten topics in their profiles. The goal of that feature was to enhance content discovery and connect users based on shared interests. Tagged topics also serve a functional role by linking users to broader conversations happening across the app, effectively creating interest-based feeds that support community-driven discovery.

By combining expanded profile customization with performance insights, Threads is subtly but steadily redefining what a social profile can offer—especially for users looking to drive traffic and measure results without third-party tools.
