Motorola covered its new Razr in Swarovski crystals because why not

Motorola is leaning hard into nostalgia at IFA 2026, giving its latest Razr foldable a Swarovski-covered makeover while also expanding its more conventional hardware lineup with two Edge smartphones and an LTE-equipped Moto Watch Ultra. The result is an unusual mix of fashion-first hardware and practical upgrades, with the Swarovski Razr easily stealing the most attention.

The special-edition Razr, sold as the Razr 70 in Europe, takes the standard 2026 foldable and dresses it in a Pantone Meteorite finish with a quilted texture. Motorola has placed 35 Swarovski crystals across the exterior, while the hinge gets a larger 32-facet Swarovski crystal intended to catch the light whenever the phone is opened or closed.

It is an unapologetically decorative approach to smartphone design, and one that feels particularly appropriate for the Razr. The original Razr became as much a fashion object as a mobile phone during the flip-phone era, so Motorola’s modern foldable has a heritage few other smartphones can exploit quite as convincingly. The crystals and quilted finish may not make the phone more capable, but capability isn’t really the point here.

Motorola has already experimented with this formula. Its Brilliant Collection previously included a Swarovski-treated version of the 2025 Razr in Pantone Ice Melt, accompanied by matching Moto Buds Loop earbuds. The new Meteorite model continues that collaboration rather than introducing a completely new product category.

Importantly, buyers shouldn’t expect the sparkling exterior to hide upgraded hardware. Underneath the Swarovski treatment, this remains the regular 2026 Motorola Razr. That makes the special edition primarily a design proposition rather than a performance upgrade, something prospective buyers will want to keep in mind if Motorola eventually attaches a significant premium to it.

Pricing hasn’t been announced. Motorola does, however, plan to sell the Swarovski Razr in selected markets across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Its wider availability is notable for a device that could easily have been treated as a limited regional fashion collaboration.

For buyers who would rather spend their money on specifications than crystals, Motorola also used IFA to showcase the Edge 70 Plus and Edge 70 Plus Neo. The standout numbers here are their batteries: the Edge 70 Plus carries a 6,500mAh unit, while the Edge 70 Plus Neo increases that to 7,000mAh.

Those are substantial capacities for smartphones and arguably represent the more practically interesting part of Motorola’s IFA phone announcements. Battery size has become another battleground for Android manufacturers as new battery technologies allow brands to fit greater capacities into increasingly manageable designs.

Motorola is also maintaining its close relationship with Pantone for the Edge series. The new models are being shown in Mountain View, Gray Lilac, Milky Blue and Sage finishes. Unlike the Swarovski Razr, however, neither Edge device is destined for the US market. Motorola plans availability across Europe, the UK and the Middle East.

Wearables complete the company’s IFA hardware push. The Moto Watch Ultra takes the existing Moto Watch concept and adds LTE connectivity, potentially making it considerably more useful away from a paired smartphone. It uses a 46mm case and features a 1.5-inch OLED display.

Motorola is offering two stainless-steel versions. The black model comes with both a black leather strap featuring red stitching and a black silicone option, while the silver version is paired with a brown leather strap and green silicone alternative. The inclusion of multiple straps also reinforces the broader fashion angle running through Motorola’s IFA lineup.

The LTE connection is the important upgrade, though. Cellular connectivity can make a smartwatch useful for calls, messaging and connected features when its owner’s phone isn’t nearby, although the supplied information doesn’t detail network compatibility, battery impact, pricing or availability. Those omissions will matter when it comes time to compare the Moto Watch Ultra against established cellular wearables.

Motorola’s IFA 2026 lineup therefore covers two very different ideas of what makes consumer hardware interesting. The Edge phones pursue the increasingly important goal of longer battery life, while the Moto Watch Ultra adds practical independence through LTE. The Swarovski Razr doesn’t need that kind of justification. It exists because smartphones have become visually predictable, and Motorola happens to own one of the few phone designs with enough cultural baggage to get away with covering a hinge in crystals.
