LinkedIn gets trendy: testing TikTok-style video feed

LinkedIn is jumping on the short-form video bandwagon with a new TikTok-inspired feed, confirmed by the company to TechCrunch. The feature, currently in early testing, replaces a navigation bar tab with “Video,” ushering users into a vertical stream of swipeable clips focused on, unsurprisingly, careers and professional topics.

This move follows the now-familiar pattern of established platforms scrambling to replicate TikTok’s success with their own short video offerings, including Instagram, YouTube, and others. Whether LinkedIn can differentiate itself in the increasingly crowded short video space, and if users will welcome yet another feed of quick-hit content, remains to be seen.

LinkedIn cites rising user interest in video from professionals, and the new format could expand creators’ reach and open up potential monetization options. This aligns with the growing popularity of career advice and professional development content on TikTok itself.

While promising for creators, this move may leave some users feeling overwhelmed by the sheer number of short-form video feeds vying for their attention across various platforms.
