SpaceXAI is pushing Grok beyond the familiar chatbot model with Grok Bot, a new system of persistent AI agents designed to carry out tasks across websites and apps with minimal supervision.
The feature is launching in beta on macOS and iOS for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers. Rather than simply responding to prompts, Grok Bot is built around agents that can keep working in the cloud after a user closes their laptop, giving the system a more autonomous role than a conventional desktop assistant.
That distinction is becoming increasingly important across the AI industry. Companies have spent the past few years improving models that generate text, images and code, but the next competitive battleground is increasingly about whether those models can reliably act on a user’s behalf. Grok Bot is SpaceXAI’s attempt to move further in that direction.
Users can assign tasks through natural-language conversations, while individual bots can work with websites, tools and applications. SpaceXAI says the system can also interact with services that do not provide an API, including signing into websites directly. The company has not yet explained in detail how credentials and authentication are handled, which will be an important question for anyone considering giving autonomous agents access to sensitive accounts.
Grok Bot also supports multiple agents operating at the same time. One bot can coordinate others, while specialist agents handle separate pieces of a larger task. They can also participate in shared conversations, hand work between themselves and escalate decisions that require human input.
Another notable element is workflow learning. A user can demonstrate how a job is completed, after which Grok Bot can save the process and attempt to repeat it independently. SpaceXAI says these routines can improve over time, with bots eventually becoming capable of starting some work proactively.
The company is positioning the feature for practical business tasks rather than simple personal assistance. Its examples include updating customer relationship management systems from sales calls, processing invoices and onboarding employees, reproducing software bugs and handing technical issues to separate debugging agents.
The Cursor connection adds another layer to the announcement. Grok Bot is tied to Cursor, the AI coding platform that SpaceX is acquiring for $60 billion, giving the broader system an obvious route into developer workflows as AI coding tools evolve into more autonomous software agents.
That ambition also creates the biggest challenge. An AI agent that can open websites, access accounts, operate apps and run continuously is inherently more powerful than a chatbot, but it also creates greater privacy, security and oversight concerns. Reliable permission controls and transparent activity logs will matter as much as raw model capability.
For now, Grok Bot remains a beta product with relatively limited availability, while enterprise customers are being directed to a waitlist. The larger test will be whether users become comfortable delegating real work to agents that can continue acting long after the conversation that started the task has ended.
