Google has rolled out a significant update to its AI research assistant, Deep Research, now powered by the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. The feature, which first launched as part of the Gemini AI suite, is designed to assist users in exploring complex topics by generating structured, multi-source reports. The newest model update expands these capabilities, allowing for deeper analysis, broader source coverage, and improved report clarity.

Previously running on the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model, the tool already offered features like multi-page reporting, citation support, and even podcast-style content summaries. With the shift to Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental), the tool is seeing notable gains in reasoning, data synthesis, and report planning. Users can access this version through the Gemini Advanced platform on web, Android, and iOS.

What sets this version apart is its ability to scan and analyze hundreds of websites, process findings more effectively, and generate more coherent and comprehensive insights. According to internal tests shared by Google, reports produced using Gemini 2.5 Pro were rated significantly higher in quality when compared to similar tools, including ChatGPT’s Deep Research.

Users have also reported improvements in the tool’s ability to handle nuanced questions, deliver detailed overviews, and structure arguments in a way that is both logical and accessible. These enhancements make it especially useful for professionals, students, and anyone needing well-organized research support across a wide range of topics.

To try the feature, users with Gemini Advanced access can switch to the Gemini 2.5 Pro model from the interface’s dropdown menu and enable the Deep Research option. For those looking to explore the feature without committing to a subscription, a free version using the Gemini 2.0 Flash model is available in over 150 countries on desktop and mobile platforms.

By focusing on usability and deeper content generation, this update positions Gemini Deep Research as a strong tool for anyone looking to conduct thorough online investigations or build structured knowledge from vast digital sources.
