According to new dummy unit images, Samsung is planning three models: the Galaxy S26 Pro, the S26 Ultra, and the newly minted S26 Edge, which apparently replaces the “Plus.” The Pro and Ultra? Same old story—minor tweaks, a reshaped camera bump borrowed from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and now a mysterious circular cutout on the back. Gee, what could that be? A stylish vent? A porthole? No, of course it’s for Qi2 magnets—the very same magnetic charging standard that Apple essentially rebranded as “MagSafe” years ago and has now been adopted on the Pixel 10. Welcome to the party, Samsung.
But the real eyebrow-raiser is the Galaxy S26 Edge. Instead of sticking with Samsung’s own design language, this one rolls out with a full-width camera bar across the back. And if that sounds familiar, it should—it looks suspiciously like Apple’s rumored iPhone 17 design. Yes, Samsung, the company that once mocked Apple for dropping the headphone jack and later followed suit, seems to have found yet another source of “inspiration.”
Meanwhile, Apple’s 2025 lineup—the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and the featherweight iPhone 17 Air—is already setting the stage for that camera bar look. So Samsung’s Edge feels less like innovation and more like, “Can I copy your homework but change it just enough so the teacher won’t notice?” Spoiler: the teacher noticed.
Still, credit where it’s due—if Samsung really does adopt Qi2 magnets, it’ll finally bring Galaxy owners into the same convenient magnetic ecosystem Apple has been enjoying since 2020. Between that and a design cribbed straight out of Cupertino, the Galaxy S26 series might be Samsung’s most Apple-like lineup yet. Which, depending on who you ask, is either the highest form of flattery—or just déjà vu with a Samsung logo slapped on.
