Dubai’s small and medium-sized businesses are getting a potentially useful software perk through Dubai Chambers, with eligible members now able to claim a year of Canva Business at no cost.
The offer is being distributed through the Business in Dubai platform and allows qualifying companies to add as many as 50 employees to a Canva Business account for 12 months. There are some important restrictions, however: participating companies must have no more than 500 employees, and businesses that have previously held a paid Canva subscription are not eligible under the current terms.
That makes the programme less of a universal freebie for Dubai businesses and more of an incentive aimed at companies that have yet to adopt Canva as a paid workplace tool.
The timing makes sense. Design and content creation have increasingly become everyday business functions rather than jobs confined to dedicated creative departments. Small companies routinely need social posts, presentations, marketing material, videos and basic web content, but may not have the budget for an internal design team or multiple specialised applications.
Canva Business attempts to cover much of that work in a single platform. Alongside its familiar design tools, the subscription provides features including Brand Kits and AI-assisted creation tools. Giving access to as many as 50 employees could be particularly useful for SMEs where marketing, sales and operations teams regularly produce their own customer-facing material.
There is also a broader strategy behind the free subscription. Canva and Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy announced a partnership during the World Governments Summit 2026, with plans to support 250,000 digital SMEs and individuals over five years. The agreement also included plans for Canva to establish a regional headquarters in Dubai.
Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, positioned the latest offer as a way of making professional design and AI tools more accessible to smaller businesses while helping them improve their digital presence.
The immediate eligibility requirements are worth checking before businesses get too excited. Access is currently targeted at eligible Dubai Chambers members, while holders of Dubai-issued trade licences are expected to become eligible at a later stage. The previous-paid-subscription restriction will also exclude businesses that already use Canva professionally.
For companies that do qualify, though, the economics are straightforward. A year of software access for up to 50 employees removes a recurring expense while giving teams an opportunity to determine whether Canva Business actually improves their workflow before they have to consider paying for it.
The offer also illustrates how AI software is becoming part of Dubai’s wider SME support strategy. Providing businesses with access is the easy part; whether companies can turn those tools into genuinely better marketing, faster content production and measurable productivity gains will be the more interesting test.
