Dell launches premium business laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip

Dell has introduced the Latitude 7455, a groundbreaking addition to its business laptop lineup. This marks Dell’s first foray into premium laptops powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite or X Plus CPU, a high-performance chip variant found in smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Latitude 7455 boasts a sleek design, claiming the title of Dell’s thinnest Latitude laptop. It features a 14-inch QHD+ touchscreen and is likely to be a 2-in-1 convertible model. The Snapdragon X chips, equipped with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) and Adreno 740 GPU, are optimized for AI tasks, offering impressive performance and efficiency. The laptop also supports LPDDR5X memory (up to 32GB) and optional 5G connectivity.

While not the most lightweight option in its class, the Latitude 7455 prioritizes sustainability with recycled materials and a battery containing 50% recycled cobalt. It also comes with various features like quad speakers, dual microphones, a spill-resistant keyboard, up to 1TB SSD storage, an optional fingerprint reader, and comprehensive security measures.

The laptop will run Windows 11 Home Arm edition or Windows 11 Pro Arm, but no Linux option has been announced. Pricing and availability details are expected later this year.

This launch represents a significant move for Qualcomm, challenging Intel and AMD in the laptop market. Other major PC manufacturers are also expected to release Qualcomm-powered laptops in the near future, aligning with Microsoft’s push for AI-focused devices. A more affordable version of the Latitude 7455, the 5455, is anticipated later this year.
