Bluesky jumps on the vertical video bandwagon amidst TikTok’s drama

In a move that aligns with the current focus on vertical video content, Bluesky has introduced a dedicated feed for vertical videos within its app. This feature allows users to easily access and engage with trending and personalized video content.

Bluesky’s custom feed for videos is similar to those found on other popular platforms. Users can browse through a dedicated section in the explore tab, swipe up to discover more videos, and pin feeds to their home screen for easy access.

The company emphasized the importance of customization, allowing users to tailor their Bluesky experience according to their preferences. Bluesky also acknowledged the efforts of developers building TikTok alternatives on the AT Protocol, including Tik.Blue, Skylight.Social, and Bluescreen.Blue, which are currently in early stages of development.

Bluesky’s user base has experienced significant growth, surpassing 28 million users over the weekend, amidst the ongoing turmoil surrounding TikTok and other ByteDance apps. This growth highlights the increasing demand for alternative social media platforms that prioritize user privacy and data security.

Other social networks are also capitalizing on this situation. Elon Musk’s X has introduced a dedicated feed for vertical videos in the U.S., while Meta has launched a new video editing app called Edits to rival CapCut.

As the landscape of social media continues to evolve, Bluesky’s introduction of a custom feed for vertical videos demonstrates its commitment to providing users with a comprehensive and engaging platform for content creation and consumption.
