Apple Watch Series 4 officially designated as vintage

Apple has added the Apple Watch Series 4 to its list of vintage products, marking the end of an era for this iconic wearable. This designation means that Apple will no longer offer hardware service for the Series 4, except in some regions where consumer law requires continued support.

The Apple Watch Series 4, launched in September 2018, was a significant milestone in the evolution of the Apple Watch. It introduced a larger display with thinner bezels, a faster processor, and improved health features like fall detection and ECG.

Apple classifies products as “vintage” when they have not been distributed for more than five years and “obsolete” after seven years. While vintage products may still be eligible for repairs if parts are available, obsolete products are no longer supported by Apple’s repair services.

The Apple Watch Series 4 did not receive the latest watchOS update, indicating that its software support has also ended. This, coupled with its vintage status, suggests that users still relying on the Series 4 may want to consider upgrading to a newer model.

In addition to the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple also added the 2019 15-inch MacBook Pro to its vintage product list. This model was the last 15-inch MacBook Pro released by Apple.

Apple’s vintage and obsolete product list serves as a reminder of the continuous evolution of technology and the importance of staying up-to-date with newer devices to ensure ongoing support and functionality.
