Three new flavoured drinks have landed on the menu across the UAE, with Peach, Mango and Raspberry Mint joining forces with Sprite Zero. They’re available from September 7 at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide and through the McDonald’s App, giving your usual burger-and-fries order a considerably fruitier sidekick.
The concept is refreshingly uncomplicated. Take Sprite Zero, add a flavour and suddenly the drink you’ve ordered approximately 4,000 times has entered its experimental era.
Peach is the straightforward sweet and fruity choice. Mango is there for anyone who wants their fast-food run to briefly feel more tropical than the car park outside. Raspberry Mint, meanwhile, is the wildcard — combining berry flavour with mint for people who look at the drinks menu and deliberately choose chaos.
All three use Sprite Zero as their base, making this less of a complete beverage revolution and more of a remix. But that is probably enough. Fast-food menus don’t necessarily need another towering burger containing seventeen sauces and a structural engineering problem every time a chain wants to introduce something new.
Drinks have become an easy place for restaurants to experiment. Flavours can be rotated, mixed and matched without messing with the sacred geometry of burgers and fries, while customers get something new without having to rethink their entire order.
And flavoured cold drinks make particular sense in the UAE. Calling something a “summer drink” here is slightly redundant when stepping outside for much of the year feels like opening an oven to check whether the pizza is ready. Refreshment has a rather generous seasonal window.
The three flavours also provide a tiny bit of customisation for creatures of habit. You can keep the same Big Mac, McChicken or nuggets you’ve ordered since approximately the invention of Wi-Fi and simply swap the drink. It’s culinary adventure with an extremely effective safety net.
McDonald’s UAE hasn’t included pricing in its announcement, so customers will need to check their nearest restaurant or the McDonald’s App to see what each option costs. The company also hasn’t specified whether the flavours are permanent additions or destined to disappear after a limited run.
Either way, the important question facing McDonald’s UAE customers is now far more serious than anyone expected from a Sprite order: Peach, Mango or Raspberry Mint?
