New PC horror The day I Will Die explores fear, memory, and endless time loops

Independent studio Lost Lighthouse has announced its debut project, a first-person horror game titled The Day I Will Die, coming to PC. Revealed just ahead of Halloween season, the game is set in Little Red Valley — a fog-shrouded mountain town where fragments of childhood memory, myth, and vintage horror seem to merge into one unsettling reality. A release date has yet to be confirmed.

According to the developer, The Day I Will Die unfolds in a place “cut off from the world and swallowed by endless mist,” where time appears to loop without end. Players explore familiar yet distorted landmarks — forest trails, old stone bridges, empty cabins — that trigger half-buried memories. But nostalgia quickly gives way to menace as creatures drawn from late-’70s and early-’80s pop culture and urban legends take physical form, hunting the player through the valley.

The studio’s description hints at a blend of psychological tension and meta-horror, drawing on the idea that the monsters we grow up fearing might one day step off the screen. The concept recalls narrative-driven horror titles like Alan Wake or Silent Hill 2, where atmosphere and memory drive the story as much as jump scares or combat.

While details on gameplay remain sparse, Lost Lighthouse’s focus on looping time and memory suggests that The Day I Will Die may weave puzzle or survival mechanics into its narrative structure. The fog-drenched setting and reference to “endless mist” also point to a classic slow-burn horror tone rather than action-heavy pacing.

The announcement positions Lost Lighthouse as another small developer leaning into introspective horror — a genre that has seen renewed interest thanks to recent indie successes built around psychological storytelling. Players interested in following its development can add The Day I Will Die to their Steam wishlist to receive updates as the project evolves.
