Lego KPop Demon Hunters set arrives August 2026

The first officially licensed LEGO set based on Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters has been revealed, offering fans a brick-built take on two memorable characters from the 2025 animated film. Scheduled for release on August 1, 2026, the Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird set arrives nearly a year after the movie’s debut, reflecting the slower pace at which merchandise sometimes follows unexpected cultural successes.

KPop Demon Hunters quickly gained traction upon its Netflix release in June 2025, eventually becoming the platform’s most-watched original animated movie and climbing the overall charts with hundreds of millions of views. The story’s blend of music, action, and fantasy clearly resonated, creating demand for physical collectibles. LEGO’s collaboration with Netflix delivers an 825-piece set priced at $69.99, targeted at builders aged 9 and up. It focuses on cute, stylized versions of Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird, complete with basic articulation: the bird can rotate its head and move its feet, while the tiger features posable legs, paws, and head, plus two interchangeable expressions.

One expression captures the character’s vacant stare and smile, while the other recreates a specific scene involving a note delivery. The set includes small brick-built accessories like notes and a flower pot to reference that awkward on-screen moment. These details provide some fidelity to the source material, though the builds remain simplified interpretations rather than highly detailed replicas.

This initial release serves as an entry point for what LEGO describes as a broader wave of KPop Demon Hunters sets, with additional products planned for 2027. Details remain sparse on future offerings, including whether they will incorporate minifigures, the mini-doll format used in themes like Friends or Wicked, or other elements. The existence of KPop Demon Hunters-inspired designs in Fortnite’s LEGO mode suggests some crossover potential, but physical sets will stand or fall on their own build quality and play value.

At $70, the set sits at a mid-range price point that may give pause to casual collectors, especially given the relatively modest piece count and limited interactivity compared to more complex LEGO kits in similar licensed lines. Fans have waited patiently for official merchandise, and while this delivers recognizable characters, it arrives late enough that enthusiasm may have cooled for some. Still, for dedicated viewers who connected with Derpy Tiger’s standout personality or the film’s energetic vibe, it offers a tangible way to engage with the IP beyond streaming.

The broader context highlights LEGO’s ongoing strategy of partnering with popular entertainment properties to expand beyond traditional building themes. Success here could encourage more animated adaptations to receive similar treatment, though sustained interest will depend on how well these sets capture the spirit of the original without feeling like obligatory tie-ins. For now, the Derpy Tiger and Sussie Bird duo provides an accessible starting point for younger builders and collectors alike, even if it leaves room for deeper or more ambitious follow-ups in the announced 2027 lineup.
