Epic Games Store has confirmed another free PC game for September 2026, with Alone With You set to join the platform’s rotating weekly giveaway lineup from September 3.
The 2016 indie adventure will be free to claim from September 3 until September 10, with the promotion scheduled to begin and end at 11 a.m. ET. Alone With You normally sells for $9.99 on the Epic Games Store, so anyone interested can permanently add it to their library during the promotional window without paying anything.
Developed by Benjamin Rivers under BancyCo, Alone With You is a narrative-heavy science-fiction adventure that mixes exploration, puzzle solving and visual novel-style conversations. Rivers is also known for Home, the 2012 pixel-art horror game, but Alone With You takes a noticeably different approach, leaning into melancholy science fiction rather than outright horror.
The game originally launched in August 2016 and uses a deliberately retro visual style inspired by the 16-bit era. Players explore an abandoned space colony while interacting with an artificial intelligence and holographic recreations of the colony’s former inhabitants. Its focus is less on action and more on piecing together what happened, solving environmental puzzles and making sense of the relationships at the centre of the story.
That makes Alone With You a relatively low-key choice compared with some of the larger titles Epic has handed out over the years, but the weekly free game programme has always mixed recognisable releases with smaller projects that might otherwise be overlooked. For a narrative indie that is now a decade old, a free Epic Games Store promotion could introduce it to a much wider audience.
Before Alone With You becomes available, Epic Games Store users can claim two other games at no cost. Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition are free from August 27 until September 3. Both normally carry a listed price of $24.99, making the current promotion considerably more valuable in pure dollar terms than the following week’s offer.
Epic’s free-game strategy continues to give PC players a reason to check the storefront regularly even as competition between digital distribution platforms remains heavily centred around established libraries, discounts and ecosystem loyalty. The important detail, as usual, is that these are limited-time claims rather than temporary trials: once redeemed during the promotion, the game remains tied to the user’s Epic account.
Alone With You may not be the biggest name on Epic’s September calendar, but it is exactly the kind of overlooked narrative game that benefits from this format. For players willing to trade blockbuster spectacle for a quieter sci-fi mystery, September 3 is the date to remember.
