Universal Pictures has unleashed the first teaser for their upcoming horror film, Wolf Man, and it promises a chilling reimagining of the classic monster tale. Christopher Abbott takes center stage as the titular creature, and the teaser doesn’t hold back on the suspense.

The trailer opens with a young girl’s voice, Abbott’s on-screen daughter, whispering fearfully, “Daddy, is that you?” It’s a question that sets the ominous tone as the Wolf Man’s transformation begins. Although we never see the full creature, glimpses of his grotesque form and the screams of terror that follow are enough to send shivers down your spine.

The 70-second teaser builds tension through the characters’ growing unease and their desperate search for the unseen predator that stalks them. Julia Garner, Sam Jaeger, and young Matilda Firth join Abbott in the cast, lending their voices to the mounting fear.

This Wolf Man film is a reboot of the iconic 1941 Universal monster movie of the same name. It marks the latest entry in Universal’s revitalized monster universe, following the success of 2020’s The Invisible Man. Leigh Whannell, known for his work on the Saw and Insidious franchises, takes the helm as director, promising a fresh and frightening perspective on the classic tale.

While Ryan Gosling was initially attached to the project, Christopher Abbott now steps into the lead role, bringing a new dimension to the tormented character. The film’s script is a collaborative effort between Whannell, Corbett Tuck, Lauren Schuker Blum, and Rebecca Angelo, ensuring a captivating narrative that stays true to the spirit of the original while offering modern twists.

With Jason Blum and Blumhouse Productions at the helm, Wolf Man is poised to deliver a thrilling and suspenseful experience. The teaser alone is enough to ignite anticipation for this latest addition to the horror genre.

Prepare to be captivated by the chilling transformation and spine-tingling fear when Wolf Man howls its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.
