Apple TV+ has officially renewed The Studio for a second season, affirming its place as one of the platform’s standout comedic offerings this year. The satirical series, which takes aim at the inner workings of Hollywood, premiered in late March and is set to release its eighth and final episode of the season on May 7. With its renewal, creators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are already signaling a long-term commitment to mining the absurdities of the entertainment industry for comedy.
Rogen, who stars as Matt Remick, plays an idealistic studio executive navigating the increasingly fraught business of movie-making. The show centers on Remick’s dream job at the helm of Continental Studios—a position that quickly proves more chaotic than glamorous. His efforts to steer the company through volatile talent, bureaucratic meddling, and industry pressures are played for both laughs and existential dread. Each episode peels back the glossy surface of Hollywood to reveal a landscape of fragile egos, corporate posturing, and creative compromise.
Backed by a strong ensemble cast that includes Ike Barinholtz, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Chase Sui Wonders—with Bryan Cranston appearing in a notable guest role—the show has also featured an impressive parade of cameos. Names like Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Ron Howard, and Steve Buscemi have helped blur the line between fiction and reality, amplifying the show’s satirical bite.
In a joint statement, Rogen and Goldberg noted their excitement to draw on the experience of season one for the next chapter, jokingly adding that they plan to “repeat that loop for ten more seasons.” The comment reflects the show’s central theme: an endless cycle of self-reinvention and controlled chaos that defines modern Hollywood.
Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss praised the show’s creators and cast for crafting a sharp, layered comedy that has generated increasing buzz with each new episode. He also teased the upcoming season’s arc, suggesting that the fictional “Kool-Aid” movie—a recurring project within the show—could play a more prominent role moving forward.
Developed under Rogen and Goldberg’s first-look deal with Lionsgate Television via their Point Grey Pictures banner, The Studio was co-created with Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. With Apple TV+ leaning into prestige comedy and industry-savvy satire, the renewal points to the platform’s confidence in The Studio as a core part of its growing original content slate.
