YouTube Music is experimenting with a new feature that lets users create custom radio stations based on text or voice prompts. Spotted by a Reddit user, this generative AI feature allows you to simply describe the vibe or mood you’re looking for, and YouTube Music will curate a personalized playlist just for you.
The feature is currently in a limited testing phase, but a screenshot reveals a chat-like interface where you can input your request. YouTube Music also provides suggested prompts, like “Catchy pop choruses” or “Epic soundtracks,” to help you get started. Alternatively, you can let the AI surprise you with a completely random selection.
Once you’ve entered your prompt, the AI generates a radio station with a unique name and description based on your request. The playlist card then displays the first few songs, along with options to play, pause, or save them to your library.
This experimental feature showcases how AI can enhance music discovery and personalization. It allows users to effortlessly create playlists that perfectly match their mood or activity, without having to manually search for individual songs or artists. While not yet widely available, this exciting development hints at the future of personalized music streaming.
