Xiaomi is shaking up the foldable phone market with the upcoming release of two new models, including its first-ever clamshell-style flip phone, the Mix Flip. This move challenges Samsung’s dominance in the foldable space, offering consumers more choices and innovative features.
The Mix Flip boasts a unique design with a large cover screen that wraps around the Leica-designed cameras. This partnership with Leica, known for its high-quality lenses and image processing, promises exceptional camera performance that could surpass Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series.
Rumors suggest the Mix Flip will feature a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, an 8-inch inner display with 2K resolution, and a 6.5-inch cover display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is also said to support 50W fast wireless charging and may offer satellite calling capabilities.
Xiaomi’s announcement comes as other brands are entering the global foldable market, putting pressure on Samsung to innovate further. The Mix Flip, with its impressive features and potentially global availability, could be a significant contender in the clamshell foldable segment.

Xiaomi will officially unveil the Mix Flip and the Mix Fold 4, its next-generation sideways-folding phone, at an event in China on July 19. The company is also expected to announce the Xiaomi Band 9, a new smartwatch, a Redmi flagship, and various smart home devices.
With Xiaomi’s bold move into the global foldable phone market, the competition is heating up, and consumers can look forward to more innovative and affordable foldable options in the future.
