Xbox has expanded its collection of special edition controllers with the release of the Pulse Cipher Special Edition.Following in the footsteps of the Sky Cipher and Ghost Cipher, this new controller offers a striking red and transparent design.

The Pulse Cipher, like its predecessors, features a transparent faceplate that provides a glimpse into the controller’s inner workings. Visible components include the vibration motors and other structural elements, adding to the controller’s unique aesthetic.  The controller also incorporates diamond-shaped rubberized grips for enhanced comfort and control during gameplay. Darker accents on the back of the controller and bumpers, along with a metallic D-pad, further contribute to its distinctive look.

In terms of functionality, the Pulse Cipher Special Edition offers a range of features common to modern Xbox controllers. These include a dedicated share button for capturing and sharing gameplay moments, remappable buttons via the Xbox Accessory Hub, and the flexibility of both wireless and wired connectivity. The controller comes with removable AA-sized batteries and a USB-C port for wired connections.  Additionally, it supports both Bluetooth and Xbox Wireless protocols, allowing for seamless pairing with a variety of devices.

Gamers can even pair the controller with two devices simultaneously. This means you could connect it to a PC via Bluetooth and an Xbox console via Xbox Wireless, switching between them as needed.

Beyond Xbox consoles and PCs, the Xbox Wireless Controller is compatible with a broad range of devices. This includes Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, and even Macs, providing a versatile gaming experience across platforms.

The Xbox Wireless Controller Pulse Cipher Special Edition is available for pre-order in select markets for $74.99. It will officially launch on February 4, 2025. For gamers who prioritize functionality over aesthetics, the standard Xbox Wireless Controller is also available at a lower price point.
